Learn yoga pose names with photographs and recall practice

Common names, Sanskrit names and their spellings can be confusing at first. Connect a photograph and the movement’s distinguishing features with each name instead of repeating letters alone.

1. Begin with a few familiar poses

Choose a few familiar shapes in the catalog. Open each pose to connect its common name, plain alphabet spelling, meaning and guidance. You can search with ordinary letters without typing diacritics.

2. Compare support and direction

Warrior I, II and III share a name but differ in foot support and torso direction. Compare their photographs and guidance, then describe the difference in your own words.

3. Review, then practise recall

Use the app’s recall practice to connect photographs and names. Start with multiple choice, then try recalling names with the written-answer format. Read the answer explanation and review the poses highlighted in your results.

4. Keep concise, specific notes

Use personal notes in pose details for a confusing name or distinguishing feature. Notes and study records stay in this browser; use the app’s backup tools before moving devices or clearing browser data. Learning names does not require forcing your body into the pictured shape.
