Movement guidance
Preparation
Choose a staggered stance that allows your pelvis to face forward comfortably.
Entry and alignment
Lengthen forward and place the hand opposite your front foot on a block. Rotate your chest toward the front leg and rest the upper hand on your hip or reach upward.
Hold and breathe
Lengthen before twisting and work within a range that keeps your back foot grounded. Keep breathing comfortably without holding your breath.
Exit and next movement
Lower the upper arm and unwind your torso first. Place your hands on your hips and rise with support from both feet.
Easier variations and preparation
Use a high block and keep your gaze toward the floor.
