Revolved Side Angle Pose
Parivrtta Parsvakonasana
From a lunge, bring the opposite arm outside the front knee and rotate your torso. Support the lower hand on the floor or a block and reach the upper arm. A preparation with the back knee down is also available.
parivrtta (revolved) + parsva (side) + kona (angle) → Revolved Side Angle Pose.
Revolved Side Angle has variations in back-heel and hand placement. This entry starts with a lunge preparation that offers more support.
Movement guidance
Preparation
Start in a lunge with the front foot between your hands. Lower the back knee if needed.
Entry and alignment
Lengthen your torso and place the opposite elbow outside your front thigh. Rotate your chest without pushing the knee forcefully with your arm.
Hold and breathe
Do not use strong pressure from your arm against your knee to deepen the twist. Keep breathing comfortably without holding your breath.
Exit and next movement
Release your hands or prayer position and turn your torso forward. Place both hands beside the front foot to return to a lunge.
Easier variations and preparation
Lower the back knee and support your hand on a block.
