Revolved Half Moon Pose

Parivrtta Ardha Candrasana

Balance on one leg with the other extended behind you and your torso nearly horizontal. Place the hand opposite your standing leg on the floor, then rotate your chest and lift the other arm.

parivrtta (revolved) + ardha candra (half moon) → Revolved Half Moon Pose.

Movement guidance

  1. Preparation

Prepare a wall and blocks, and first practice balancing with one leg extended behind you.

  2. Entry and alignment

Place the hand opposite your standing leg on a block and face your pelvis toward the floor. Lengthen your back before rotating your chest toward the standing leg.

  3. Hold and breathe

Level your hips before twisting and keep your standing foot steady. Keep breathing comfortably without holding your breath.

  4. Exit and next movement

Lower the upper arm, unwind your torso, bend the standing knee and lower the back foot.

Easier variations and preparation

Practice a Warrior III preparation with both hands supported on blocks.
