Eagle Pose

Garudasana

With knees slightly bent, cross one leg over the other and wrap your arms in front of you. Lower your pelvis back and keep your center over the standing foot.

Garuda (a mythical great bird) → Eagle or Garuda Pose.

Movement guidance

  1. Preparation

Soften both knees and shift your weight onto one foot.

  2. Entry and alignment

Cross the opposite thigh over the standing leg and cross your arms in front. Your toes may touch the floor and the backs of your hands may meet.

  3. Hold and breathe

Focus on a stable standing foot and pelvis rather than wrapping your legs more tightly. Keep breathing comfortably without holding your breath.

  4. Exit and next movement

Uncross your arms and legs in turn and place both feet on the floor. Straighten your knees to stand.

Easier variations and preparation

Keep the upper foot's toes on the floor and wrap your arms around yourself.
