Fire Log Pose

Agnistambhasana

Stack the shins while sitting upright, supporting any gap beneath the knees.

Agni means fire; stambha means pillar or log.

Movement guidance

  1. Preparation

Sit tall and fold one shin across the front.

  2. Entry and alignment

Place the other shin above it, with each ankle near the opposite knee.

  3. Hold and breathe

Support a lifted knee rather than pressing it down. Keep breathing comfortably without holding your breath.

  4. Exit and next movement

Support and lower the upper leg, then extend both legs before changing sides.

Easier variations and preparation

Use comfortable crossed legs with cushions.

Difficulty refers to the photographed form. Individual experience may differ.
