Extended Leg Pose

Uttana Padasana

Add raised arms and legs to the lifted chest of Fish Pose.

Uttana means extended; pada means foot or leg.

This entry explains preparation and movement characteristics. It does not provide a complete practice procedure for the advanced photographed variation. Learn entry and exit directly with a teacher.

Movement guidance

  1. Preparation

Prepare a low chest opening supported on the forearms.

  2. Understanding the movement

This variation extends both arms and legs into the air while the chest stays lifted as in Fish.

  3. Hold and breathe

Do not use pressure through the neck to gain height. Keep breathing comfortably without holding your breath.

  4. Exit and next movement

Learn how to lower the limbs and release chest and head support with a teacher.

Easier variations and preparation

Check the basic form and preparations with a teacher; do not force binds, inversions, or deep backbends.

Difficulty refers to the photographed form. Individual experience may differ.
