Reclining Bound Angle Pose
Supta Baddha Konasana
Recline with the soles together and knees open, supporting the weight of the thighs.
Supta means reclining; baddha kona means bound angle.
The photograph shows a restorative bolster-supported form. Do not press the knees down.
Movement guidance
Preparation
Prepare a bolster for the back and head and supports for the knees.
Entry and alignment
Bring the soles together, open the knees, and lower the back onto support. Place the arms comfortably.
Hold and breathe
Let supports carry the legs; do not press the knees toward the floor. Keep breathing comfortably without holding your breath.
Exit and next movement
Support the outer thighs with the hands to close the knees, roll sideways, and use the hands to rise.
Easier variations and preparation
Place cushions under both thighs and move the feet farther from the pelvis.
