Fish Pose

Matsyasana

Lift the chest with forearm support and let the head tilt back without bearing weight on the neck.

Matsya means fish.

Movement guidance

  1. Preparation

Lie on the back with the legs extended and forearms ready to support you.

  2. Entry and alignment

Press into the elbows to lift the chest and lengthen the neck.

  3. Hold and breathe

If the head touches down, keep its contact light rather than loading the crown. Keep breathing comfortably without holding your breath.

  4. Exit and next movement

Press through the forearms to release the head first, then lower the chest and back of the head.
