Sunbird / Chakravaka Pose
Cakravakasana
Extend one arm forward and the opposite leg back from all fours while keeping the torso steady.
Cakravaka is the name of a waterbird; this photograph shows the opposite-arm-and-leg Sunbird variation.
The name Chakravakasana is also used for other flowing movements; this photograph shows a four-point balance variation.
Movement guidance
Preparation
Place the hands under the shoulders and knees under the pelvis.
Entry and alignment
Reach one leg back and the opposite arm forward, prioritizing length without torso rotation over height.
Hold and breathe
Keep the pelvis and torso level rather than lifting the limbs high. Keep breathing comfortably without holding your breath.
Exit and next movement
Slowly return the hand and knee to the floor, check neutral alignment, and change sides.
Easier variations and preparation
Extend only one arm or leg at a time, keeping the toes down.
Difficulty refers to the photographed form. Individual experience may differ.
