Firefly Pose
Tittibhasana
Support the thighs on the upper arms and extend both legs forward and upward in a hand balance.
Tittibha means firefly.
Movement guidance
Preparation
Prepare from a squat with the thighs supported on the upper arms.
Entry and alignment
Press through the palms, shift over the hands, lift the feet, and extend the knees only as far as balance allows.
Hold and breathe
Stable hand support matters more than fully straight legs. Keep breathing comfortably without holding your breath.
Exit and next movement
Bend both knees first, shift backward, and place the feet down.
Variations and sequence transitions
Choose variations and transitions within your comfortable range.
Tittibhasana B · Standing bound fold
Stand and fold deeply, passing the arms under the knees to bind behind the back. This support differs from arm-balancing A. Do not pull the bind.
Tittibhasana C · Ankle-holding fold
Stand with feet turned out, shoulders behind the knees, and arms around the ankles. Do not force the shoulders beneath the legs.
Easier variations and preparation
Keep the knees bent and the feet low.
This advanced variation requires support and range of motion. Check preparation and exit with a teacher when first learning.
Difficulty refers to the photographed form. Individual experience may differ.
