Crow Pose
Kakasana
Balance with bent elbows and knees on the upper arms, lifting the feet from a squat.
Kaka means crow.
Some traditions interchange the names Crow and Crane; this entry uses the bent-elbow form.
Movement guidance
Preparation
Squat with the palms shoulder-width apart.
Entry and alignment
Bend the elbows, place the knees on the upper arms, look slightly forward, and try lifting one foot at a time.
Hold and breathe
Keep the gaze ahead of the hands and avoid rushing to lift both feet. Keep breathing comfortably without holding your breath.
Exit and next movement
Shift back and lower one foot at a time, then release the hands in the squat.
Easier variations and preparation
Keep the toes grounded or lift only one foot at a time.
Difficulty refers to the photographed form. Individual experience may differ.
