Movement guidance
Preparation
Prepare comfortable Lotus and arm threading separately.
Entry and alignment
Pass the arms between the thighs and calves and lift the legs to balance on the sitting bones, with hands near the face without pressing the neck.
Hold and breathe
Do not transfer the force of threading the arms into the knees. Keep breathing comfortably without holding your breath.
Exit and next movement
Move the hands away from the face, support the pelvis and legs, withdraw the arms, then support the upper foot to unfold.
Easier variations and preparation
Skip arm threading and practice balance with comfortably crossed legs.
This advanced variation requires support and range of motion. Check preparation and exit with a teacher when first learning.
Difficulty refers to the photographed form. Individual experience may differ.
