Movement guidance
Preparation
Check the suitability of chin- and shoulder-loaded variations with a teacher.
Understanding the movement
The photograph adds an extreme backbend to a chin-supported inversion, distinct from a straight-legged Chin Stand.
Hold and breathe
Direct guidance is required to avoid concentrating weight on the chin and neck. Keep breathing comfortably without holding your breath.
Exit and next movement
Learn how to manage neck and chin pressure while returning in person.
Easier variations and preparation
Practice low prone backbends and hand support separately.
This advanced variation requires support and range of motion. Check preparation and exit with a teacher when first learning.
